There
are four different types of stress. And when we think of stress, we often just
think of mental stress or emotional stress. But there are actually four
different categories.
Mental stress
Emotional stress
Structural/Mechanical stress
Nutritional/Chemical Stress
So
if you write down the first one, the first one is mental stress. The second one
is emotional stress. The third one is structural/mechanical stress. And the
fourth one is nutritional/chemical stress. I'll give you examples of each one
of these and then you can fill them in for yourself.
First of all, mental stress. This is what we usually think
of as stress so this is work stress, financial stress, problem solving,
organizing. This may be projects at work and trying to balance what's going on
at work.
The
second one is emotional stress so this is getting into a relationship, getting
out of a relationship, going through a divorce, having a birth in the family,
having a death in the family. It could be moving, choosing a new career,
arguing or fighting with siblings or family members.
So
take a minute and write down in these two categories anything that's come up
for you in last five years.
OK,
so then there's category three...structural/mechanical. So this could be...do you
have back pain? Do you have neck pain? Do you have any pinched nerves? Do you
have any pain in your body? /Do you have any broken bones, sports injuries, car
accidents? Maybe your hip is out of place, you have one leg that's longer than
the other. You'll want to
write those things down.
This
is the category that we often forget but is very important and I'll give you an
example of why.
I
was working with this woman and we were working very hard on her adrenal
exhaustion. Could not figure out why we couldn't get her adrenal glands fixed.
Well, she said that she had pain in her hips when she walked. And that she was
supposed to be doing these exercises from her physical therapist but she never
did them.
So
finally I sent her to one of my friends who a
chiropractor in Santa Monica. And he called me and said her hips were out of
place and it was pinching a nerve and the nerve it was pinching was going to
her adrenal gland. So this was a prime example of why we couldn't get adrenal
glands fixed.
And
remember the whole key for you is first removing the source of stress and then
going in and repairing your adrenal glands because it's caused by adrenal
exhaustion. So pinpointing and taking care of any type of mechanical or
structural stress.
