How does infrared light improve the sauna’s effectiveness?

D: I see so the infrared the body absorbs the infrared rather than having a convective heat transfer. It’s more of a radiant heat transfer that’s heating you up.

Your body absorbs the infrared energy so the sauna doesn’t have to be hot

That’s exactly right. And your body is tuned to absorb heat at the far infrared wavelength and ceramic gives off heat at this wavelength because it’s basically made from beach sand. If you can imagine walking on the beach on your bare feet and it’s too hot for the bottom of your feet. So you jump over to the grass to cool yourself off.

Well, that grass is under the same sun but it has a different vibrational quality than the sand so it’s absorbing heat instead of reflecting it. And your body is absorbing that heat while the sand is reflecting it. So it’s the exact same principle in our saunas is that the ceramic is reflecting heat and your body is absorbing it.

People often describe it as feeling like they’re at the beach.
